Recently some prominent scientists and/or journalists try to show how great the science is and how flawed and even dangerous the religion is. With these words I have in mind the recently published book God is Not Great by C. Hitchens and the book The God Delusion by R. Dawkins (both books can be found and downloaded for free in torrents and various blogs). While I have never heard of  Hitchens before his book was advertised in Wikipedia by his fans, Dawkins is one of my favorite authors, and it is a pity that with this recent book he shows that even a brilliant author can produce commercialized pseudo-scientific garbage.

 

Since I am one of those scientists who believe in the natural evolution and the origin of human from monkey ancestors I shall not further argue that evolution is wrong, or that one should discard all the evidence in support of Darwinism. Rather I will express my big concern that people who are not acquainted with the Bible and have no experience in philosophy of religion or even philosophy of science, should not write bombastic books of how evil God is, and should avoid quotation out of context as this is a landmark of dishonesty, deliberate falsification and profanity. Here is an excerpt from First Epistle to the Corinthians 13:4-8.

 

"Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails."

 

What this quotation shows is that the Christian religion has never been evil by its nature, and that the Christian God is a God of love, caring and forgiveness. The fact that the Christian religion has been used for evil purposes shows only one thing - that human nature contains the seeds of evil in itself. The science and the scientific progress itself is also neither good or evil. People are the ones that have used the atomic bombs to kill millions, and used machine guns and tanks to start World Wars. To accuse God as being evil is taking NO RESPONSIBILITY! People are those who use science and religion for good or evil, therefore there are NO EXCUSES! In my heart I have been always existentialist and I do believe that whatever the meaning of life is, everyone should be responsible for his own actions.
