Supporting Scientific Freedom
The beginning of the 21st century reflects more than at any other time in the history of Mankind, the depth and significance of the role of science and technology in human affairs. Unfortunately commercialization of science nowadays takes detrimental dimensions so that the scientist does not have free choice of research theme, does not have free choice of research methods, cannot disagree with leading authorities without risking to be blacklisted or even expelled from an academic program, often is forced to include as co-authors people who have not contributed anything to his research, or his work is plagiarized by established scientists who at the same time prevent his work from publication in peer-reviewed journals where the plagiarists act as editors or peer-reviewers. According to the Declaration of Academic Freedom such activities are considered to be deliberate crime and should not be tolerated. We hope that all supporting scientists shall abide by this Declaration, as an indication of solidarity with the concerned international scientific community, and to vouchsafe the rights of the citizenry of the world to unfettered scientific creation according to their individual skills and disposition, for the advancement of science and the benefit of Mankind.
